Film Review : Minus 31 The Nagpur Files

Minus 31 The Nagpur Files (A) is a murder mystery. A murder has happened, and a female cop is investigating the case.

The screenplay, penned by Charulata Maitra and Ankit Bhuptani,


Performances range from the actors like Rucha Inamdar, Raghubir Yadav, Rajesh Sharma, Shivankit Singh Parihar, Jaya Bhattacharya, Santosh Juvekar, Ruturaj Wankhede and the others deliver performances are okay accordingly their characters not extraordinary.


The case is fraught with many hurdles, such as non-cooperation of family members, politicians obstructing the investigation and a missing girl, Preksha Meshram (Nisha Dhar), an aspiring hip-hop star, who is an important link in the case.


Director Prateek Moitro brings to us a breezy and dark crime drama set against the backdrop of the terrifying COVID-19 lockdown milieu and medical crisis.


While trying to solve the mystery, Preksha has to deal with the tantrums of her angry father Anupam Sharma (Raghubir Yadav).


All of this is against hip-hop culture, which is resorted to by the lower strata of society as a way of expressing their anger.


A young and flamboyant police officer, Preksha Sharma (Rucha Inamdar), investigates the murder of a well-connected businessman, Dayanand Pandey (Rajesh Sharma).


From start to finish, the atmosphere of the film is intertwined, be it the dark streets of the slums or the dirty tannery, the personal lives of the characters, the backdrop of corruption or murder during the biggest humanitarian crisis.


As the lights dimmed in the theater, I braced myself for a thrilling cinematic experience with “Minus 31: The Nagpur Files.” Directed by Pratik Moitro, this murder mystery had me hooked from the start.


Set against the backdrop of a strict lockdown, the film weaves a captivating tale of suspense and intrigue.
